Rev. James Doherty C.S.C. | Spiritual Director |
Nancy Smith, OFS | Director |
Theresa Orcutt | Associate Director |
Deacon Daniel F. Sullivan | Associate Director |
I am pleased to announce that Nancy Smith, OFS has joined the Province effective today as the Retreat House Director in North Easton, Massachusetts. In this role, Nancy will report to the local Superior of the Stonehill College Community. She will be responsible for scheduling retreats, providing hospitality, recruiting and training volunteers, fundraising, and property maintenance. She will work closely with the Retreat House Spiritual Director Rev. James Doherty, C.S.C. as well as Associate Directors Teresa Orcutt and Deacon Daniel F. Sullivan.
Nancy’s most recent ministry role was as the Director of the Collaborative Parish and Youth Ministry for St. John the Evangelist Church and the Church of St. Ann in East and West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Director of Religious Education for St. John the Evangelist Church and worked for many years in the East Bridgewater Public Schools as a substitute teacher and stage manager.
Nancy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from Bridgewater State College. She is currently completing coursework for a Master’s degree in Franciscan Theological Studies and earlier this year made her profession as a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Nancy is also a past recipient of the Cheverus Award from the Archdiocese of Boston. She and her husband of 29 years, Kevin, have three children. They are enjoying watching their children create their path in life after college graduation. In her spare time, Nancy enjoys camping with her husband and hiking. While at home they enjoy creating various gardens in their yard to help pollinators and birds. They also find it very fulfilling to volunteer with the Capuchin Mobil Ministry working with the homeless.
Please join me in welcoming Nancy to our team (nsmith@holycrossusa.org).
As part of this announcement, we also want to recognize and thank Jim Orcutt for his years of outstanding stewardship of the Retreat House. He will transition from a leadership role to a volunteer as Nancy becomes oriented. Congratulations to both Nancy and Jim!
